Farmer = Mechanic

Who knew that I had to be a mechanic? On a beautiful morning to be working in the fields, we discovered a bearing out on one of the carriage wheels of the soil finisher. Our trusty implement dealer doesn’t have the part and supposedly this part is made outside of Atlanta, Georgia and will take more than a few days to get here. With the weather forecast against us, this is not a problem we should be dealing with right now. This puts our corn planting back a few days and we have to take advantage of every good day we can.

On a positive note, I’m learning about what to look for, what can go wrong, what to do about it, and how to use a humongous wrench.
