We got yet another fresh dump of snow that laid on top of the last dump and the dump before that. I had to keep thinking that all this moisture will someday melt and supply the ground with water for the green grass and flowers to grow. I was hoping that day would come soon when I could see the ground.
During the winter, it was a great time to keep on reading farm magazines, journal articles and planning for spring. We had many seed salesman meetings, spring fertilizer meetings, crop management meetings, and other meetings that actually helped me get a better grasp on farm management. Winter is a time to contemplate and think about the near future of the business and create a well-devised strategy of what to plant where.
I spent many desk hours with my dad, learning the ropes. Unfortunately, there are thousands of ropes. My dad is a great teacher and I am so grateful to be learning from him day after day.
